Education: associate degree
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program
- Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic physiology
- Experience or familiarity with pediatrics, orthopedics, inpatient care, skilled nursing facilities, acute care, outpatient services, or home health preferred
Skills:
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Empathy and patience when working with diverse patient populations
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and ethical practice standards
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Physical Therapist in developing and implementing individualized care plans based on patient assessments
- Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities as directed by the supervising therapist
- Monitor patient progress and accurately document treatment outcomes in accordance with facility protocols
- Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs and strategies to support recovery
- Collaborate with physical therapy aides and front office staff to support patient care and maintain a positive treatment experience
- Maintain a clean, organized treatment environment and ensure all equipment is sanitized and ready for use
- Stay informed on advancements in physical therapy and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
